Google as Hippocampus One of my jr high teachers refused to make us memorize anything beyond the essential concepts. Rather, she made sure that we could organize our information and devise a method of retrieval. She believed that the long-term trend was veering away from rote learning and moving towards the ability to look up information.

That was actually the smartest policy of any of my teachers until college.
