  Best 3
Best three things at the moment:

1. Resiliency of the human body - After several billion dollars invested in nutritional science we're basically where we were in 1910 or 1010. Don't smoke. If you're preggers, take folic acid. But, really, there are no magic bullets or free lunches when it comes to our physiology. It can be disheartening to learn that all my fish oil supplements, glucosimine pills and multivitamins could be worth their weight in placebo sugar tablets. But, it's also comforting in a way. We're simple beings. We like simple things.

2. Wikipedia - we're on the cusp of the generation that has grown up with nearly unlimited free information for immediate consumption at no cost. It's easy to take it for granted. Sometimes I remember the early, early days of my internet exploration. I had to memorize website names. preposterous!

3. closely related to #2: liberalism - (note: this is liberal with a lowercase "l")... basically, a global trend towards the freeing of individuals to carve out a life of self-determination. It's increasingly more difficult for regimes to censor and subjugate the people they control. With few exceptions (Google in China, Revolutionary Guard in Iran) we're moving liberal.. more open and dynamic markets, more transparent politics, increasing education.

Like it or not we live in interesting times. They are times of danger and uncertainty; but they are also the most creative of any time in the history of mankind.

That was spoken 45 years ago and it was true then. But, that was pre '89 Berlin, pre internet, pre SMS banking. we were (and are) just getting warmed up.
